Regulation 5 of this legislation states “Every employer shall make and give effect to such arrangements as are appropriate … for the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of the preventative and protective measures”  (ie:- the measures needed to comply with health and safety law).   Auditing is an essential aspect of successful health and safety management, and the only way a company can ensure that its management is effective is to arrange for the exercise to be conducted on a regular basis.  

A comprehensive audit will examine every aspect of the business in relation to the legal requirements, providing valuable information to management and identifying those areas where attention is most needed.
